Doug graduated from Taylor University in 1977 and earned a Master’s degree from Virginia Commonwealth University in 1983. During that
six-year period, he taught economics and government at the high school level and coached football and track.
Since entering the industry in 1983, Doug has continued his educational pursuits in order to better serve his clients. He has earned the professional credentials of Certified Financial Planner™, Chartered Financial Consultant®, and Chartered Life Underwriter®. His passion for learning and educating, combined with his longevity in the industry, have broadened his perspective in financial matters and helped his clients achieve their financial dreams.
Doug’s sterling reputation has earned him respect among his peers, but he believes that developing strong client relationships matters most. “I live by the rule, ‘Treat others as you want to be treated,’” he says. “Integrity and trust are at the core of each client relationship. It’s my priority and promise to consistently demonstrate these virtues to those who seek my advice.”
Outside of the office, Doug enjoys spending time with his family and engaging in worthwhile causes. An avid golfer himself, Doug serves as chairman for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes Golf Ministry at the national level. Since 2012, he has committed his company’s finances, personnel, and other resources to support The First Tee of Greater Richmond, including hosting the annual Greenwood Financial Group golf tournament each year in April.
